MIPS Educational Topic of the Week: Public Health and Clinical Data Exchange for Vein Procedures

MIPS OBL EHR Certified EHR

If you do vein procedures and have not yet signed up with the AVLS PRO 2.0 Registry, we encourage you to do so.

StreamlineMD is dedicated to providing education and educational resources to our clients for the 2019 MIPS Program.  One of the Promoting Interoperability (PI) measures that is drawing concern and questions from our clients is the Public Health and Clinical Data Exchange measure.  In order to receive credit in this category of the MIPS program, you will need to choose a Registry that will allow you to successfully attest that, "The MIPS eligible clinician is in active engagement to submit data to a clinical data registry." Without at least one attestation to a clinical data registry, you will be unable to capture all of the points available for the PI portion of MIPS.

To address this challenge, StreamlineMD participates directly with the American Vein and Lymphatic Society’s (AVLS) PRO Registry. The Registry has gone through an extensive upgrade, making the submission process and analysis of data more user friendly.  StreamlineMD has been working successfully with the PRO Registry for multiple years and will continue to do so with the PRO 2.0 Registry.  PRO 2.0 has the ability to collect over 600 clinical data points through a process that happens behind the scenes and as a bi-product of your staff and providers’ day-to-day routine documentation.

If you have not yet signed up with the AVLS PRO 2.0 Registry, we encourage you to do so.  PRO 2.0 is a CMS approved Clinical Data Registry and, once signed up, your practice can successfully attest to "The MIPS eligible clinician is in active engagement to submit data to a clinical data registry," for the purposes of the Health and Clinical Data Exchange measure in the PI portion of the MIPS program.

If interested in participating with the AVLS Registry, please reach out to Michael Thompson, AVLS Director of Research and Member Services, mthompson@ACPMAIL.ORG or contact StreamlineMD for more information.
